Reconstruction challenges for complicated preauricular sinuses: case reports

نویسندگان

چکیده

Preauricular sinuses and pits are congenital anomalies located in or just front of the ascending limb helix. Even though excising a sinus is relatively minor surgical procedure, recurrence not uncommon if an adequate resection done. Surgery only indicated when it complicated by recurrent infection abscesses. Simple closure may be possible there large tissue defect. In those circumstances local flaps will required to cover this article we report 2 cases which had defect after excision closed with rotational flaps. This provided good cosmetic outlook no recurrences so far. There enough articles published far such kind reconstruction techniques for preauricular defects.

The histologic relationship of preauricular sinuses to auricular cartilage.

OBJECTIVE To determine the histologic relationship and distance between excised preauricular epithelial sinus tract and the adjacent auricular cartilage (sinocartilaginous distance) in a series of patients. The excision of preauricular sinuses is a common surgical procedure. Recurrences are frequent and can be technically challenging. While advocated by several authors, the surgical removal of ...

Reconstruction Techniques for Tissue Defects Formed after Preauricular Sinus Excision

BACKGROUND Preauricular sinuses are congenital abnormalities caused by a failure of fusion of the primitive tubercles from which the pinna is formed. When persistent or recurring inflammation occurs, surgical excision of the infected tissue should be considered. Preauricular defects inevitably occur as a result of excisions and are often difficult to resolve with a simple suture; a more effecti...

[Tunnelized preauricular transposition flap for reconstruction of anterior auricular defects].

Actas Dermosifiliogr. 2008;99:157-69 161 To the Editor: Reconstruction of the anterior aspect of the auricle of the ear after oncologic surgery is often complicated and requires imagination when planning the surgical technique. The techniques usually used are direct suture, grafts, second-intention healing, and postauricular pedicle flaps, in particular the “revolving door” flap.1 We describe a...

Total earlobe reconstruction with a superiorly based preauricular flap*

An 86-year-old woman was referred for treatment of a lentigo maligna melanoma on the left earlobe, confirmed by cutaneous biopsy. The resulting surgical defect involved the earlobe's full thickness. The authors outline a simple method for reconstructing the entire lobe in one stage, without grafts, whilst offering a pleasant appearance. Earlobe deformity may be congenital or, more often, acquir...
